Kindergarten Parent Information

School hours are 8:00–2:40. Children who arrive early must go to the cafeteria where they will be supervised until time for class. Please drop your child off on the east side entrance (on Shady Shores). They do not have to be walked in the building unless they are tardy and need to be signed in. Your child will be counted tardy starting at 8:05 am. We begin working as soon as they come in so please have them to school on time! When they start their day behind it is hard for them to get caught up!!!! If you pick up your child from school, please drive thru the pick up line in front of the school and I will bring them to your car. If you need to pick them up before 2:30 they MUST be signed out in the office and they will call for them.

Teachers must be given a note if a child is to miss PE because of injury or illness. All children need to wear tennis shoes on PE days.

Please label all backpacks, sweaters, coats, and lunch boxes with your child’s name and teacher.

Please check your child’s folder daily and return it to school the next day. This is my daily communication with you!! I will make phone calls if there is a serious issue that needs to be discussed.

I will choose a “STAR STUDENT of the WEEK” every week. Your child will bring home a poster to decorate and complete. It will come home on Friday and should be returned on the following Monday.

I will have Parent Conferences on an as needed basis. If you would like to conference with me, my conference time is 3:00 – 3:45. Please contact me at 497-2222 to schedule a day and time. You can e-mail me at anytime devans@ldisd.net.

A monthly newsletter will be sent home at the beginning of each month. Please make sure to read it as it contains important dates, reminders, and units of study for that month.
